Communication- Cascade of Messages
Communication is the lifeblood that pumps through our business’s circulatory system.
Because of the way we manage, our senior teams frequently launch what we call “cascading” messages. These messages appear on the agenda of our teams’ regular meetings and roll down through all team members.
These bite-size missives are often reruns of our oldies but goodies: messages such as the health and safety of our teams, and the fostering of cohesion, innovation and growth.
We are all tuned to the same station, and we talk about these topics and what we are doing to promote the message. Then team members communicate back up through the chain. This robust dialogue creates a real, healthy informational circulatory system.
We also have a common rallying cry: “Stick together. Learn together. Dream together.” It is a slogan I hope to put on the front of T-shirts and buy for my team someday.
Every Friday, I do a weekly roundup, a one-minute video recapping the week.
We also have an all-hands-on-deck meeting every Thursday at 10:00 a.m. We discuss what is happening in the organization, augmenting our many touchpoints, such as our 8:45 a.m. morning stretch, our virtual lunches, and our Recipes, Parent Resources, and Wellness Channels on Microsoft Teams.
While isolation and trauma, especially mid-pandemic, can lead to alienation and a loss of productivity, leaders with their fingers on the pulse of the organization and serving as the heart of the system, can send out messages and support.
Through cascading messages, Dasher stays heart-healthy and robust. Like the crystallized dishwasher detergent, our messages are Cascade clean and crystal clear.
