In one of our many conversations about data security, I mentioned to Ed Dame, Dasher’s Chief Information and Security Officer, that our efforts to protect data were so ingrained that it seemed like we had gotten the right people on the bus and that we are now driving toward our goals.
Ed smiled kindly because we both know that I cannot resist bringing up Jim Collins because I have a deep admiration for Jim and his great work. It’s fine with me if you call this a crush because it’s probably closer to that than just admiration.
Ed said it has taken some considerable effort to get the right people on the bus, but he had another idea about why our focus on data security was working so well. Ed said, “The word that comes to mind is trust. Everything in data security is based on trust. With the program we have put in place and our continued focus and emphasis on security, our clients – and their customers– can trust that Dasher is doing the right things to protect their confidential information. As we have layered our focus on data security on top of our already excellent service levels, it provides an experience for our customers that is unparalleled.”
I said, “Jim says that entrepreneurial success is fueled by creativity, imagination, bold moves into uncharted waters, and visionary zeal.’ Ed just smiled back at me with a look of understanding in his eyes.
From personal experience, I know that Ed thinks a lot about creative solutions that make it easy to serve customers better. Ed said, “I often say that the best technology is “invisible” and what I mean by that is that it helps Dasher employees fulfill our mission of helping others to live happy healthy lives. The same goes for data security. It can be cumbersome, but I attempt to make it a positive and helpful addition to our process.”
Ed paused and then continued, “Dasher’s focus on data security and service allows us to help more people and create better outcomes for the members we serve. Recently a customer was looking for a partner to outsource a call center. They searched their partner database and Dasher was the only vendor who would have the security posture needed to take on the work. This is a testament to Dasher’s commitment to data security and service.”
It’s also a testament to creativity, bold moves into uncharted water, and visionary zeal.
